Mystery & Ollie 303 playing @ Glade Festival July 2009!

Deep End residents Ollie 303 & myself are going to playing at Glade Festival this year. I believe it'll be on friday 17th July (it runs from 16th-19th July this year). I've not been to Glade before, but reports sound good..! It's widely recognized as being the UK's top electronic dance music festival, which given the standards set at BLOC weekend last month, Glade 2009 has gotta be something special..!
They're moving to a new site this year, the Matterley Bowl, in Winchester, which means this year it's gonna be longer, louder and later than ever before!
The line up's huge this year, with Underworld, Squarepusher & Booka Shade headlining and countless other acts on the bill. The dubstep line up this year features Digital Mystikz, Rusko (Live), Benga, Tayo, Starkey, as well as us Devon beys and more. We're going to be playing on the Rinseout stage, alongside Rinseout residents and fellow Exeter troopers, Mr Nice, Maxxi P and Johnny G, amongst others. Go to for more info & to get your tickets in. Eskmo @ Hub Sat 11th April. 1 final Hubstep!

Saturday 11th April  saw The Deep End hit the Hub for one last dubstep rave... Exeter's spiritual home of dubstep is soon to be no more, as Heavitree breweries is looking to sell off the premises. Back in January 2007, we hosted SKREAM's first visit to Devon, and the man tore the roof off! Since then, under the night's previous name, Breaksphere, we proceeded to put on many of the scene's biggest names at the Hub, including YOUNGSTA, CASPA, N TYPE, PLASTICIAN, APPLEBLIM, SHACKLETON, PINCH, CHEF, LD, ROGUE STATE, KROMESTAR, F1, HEADHUNTER and many more + Djs CLIPZ, HAZARD, SAPPO, TAXMAN & BEARDYMAN. The other saturday saw our first inernational booking to the Hub, with one of San Francisco's pioneering producers, ESKMO, stopping in on Exeter as part of only a 4 date UK tour. After the scene had been set by an impressive 4 deck performance from Compo & Ron Willis, and residents Ben Adams, Corticyte & Sub Heavy's top boy, Necta Selecta laid down further earth trembling bass monsters, ESKMO took to the stage and proceeded to educate the crowd with a midi controller masterclass! He played a highly energetic live set, constantly tweaking and live remixing of his own emaculately produced brand of glitch and techno infused dubstep.
Ellie made her debut for The Deep End, flexing her vocal chords to great effect, complimenting the music beautifully, and Illogik & I played back to back till the final curtain.
Neighbourhood Sound was on fine form, sounding crisp and powerful, and featuring 4 brand new hog scoops which were kicking out a devastating amount of bass! Big ups to Rupe for all his work building the rig, and to Sam for his help as well. I'm proud to have helped out with it, and been part of building the new bass bins. Was wicked to hear all 4 together. 4 more are in the making for 29th May @ the Phoenix..!
Massive thanks to everyone who made it out to show their support. The atmosphere in there was tiptop as always! Big thanks to Adam as well for hosting an awesome afterparty. I've never seen so much effort put into a house party b4! Was great to show Eskmo a bit of Devon hospitality too. It was the only after party he made it to whilst he was over, and it didn't disappoint! I called him a cab at about 6ish, but the rest of us didn't stagger home till way after sunrise...
Fairwell to Peg, one of our most loyal ravers, who's now heading off travelling to Australia. We'll miss u bro!

Fri 20th March 09. Hatcha & Crazy D, Caspa and Rossi B & Luca @ Lemon Grove

Killer killer line up for this one! This was a serious step up for The Deep End, moving up to Exeter's largest club venue, The Lemon Grove. We'd done a night there over a year previously with Beats & Bass, Retox & Armada (featuring Benga, Appleblime, Die & Danny Byrd), but this was our first go at it on our own. We totally transformed the venue, covering the place in the deep end's signature black out material and camo netting, and setting up the venue in the opposite way to how most promoters use it, putting the djs in the booth (as opposed to on the stage) and setting up the colossal Neighbourhood Soundsystem to face away from the bar... Pulsar, Double D and I played a novel b2b2b2 set for the first time at a deep end night, laying down loads of original Devon dubplates, including many of Pulsar's latest numbers. Garage legends from way back when, Rossi B & Luca, showed off their turntablist skills, cutting over the finest in garage, grime, bassline and dubstep, and really making their mark on the crowd. Caspa followed them up with a set of pure bangers and mash, blazing out his trademark high octane wobbling basslines to devastating effect! Hatcha & Crazy D, the original dubstep dj & host laid it down as only they do best. Hatcha's jaw-dropping array of the freshest exclusive dubplates & Crazy D's vibes on the mic were impeccable as always (big and smallways!). Thanks to Emily for your help stage managing. I think you saved me some grey hairs that night! A heavy night was had by all. Shame we didn't have quite the numbers in we'd have hoped, but as you can see from the photos, there was definitely more than enough to build a wicked atmosphere in there...

lead to them being kicked out their house (Big ups to all @ Belvedere- sorry it might
have been that particular straw that broke your landlord's back!). Cheers. Mystery x
